Philosophy

I believe that the change that happens in therapy is rooted primarily in the strong relationship built between therapist and client. I seek to create an environment where therapist and clients work collaboratively to meet the therapeutic goals. Between the therapist’s clinical experience and empathetic nature, client’s motivation for change, and a strong relationship built between the two, I believe the possibility of change can become a reality in the lives of clients.

Experience

I am a US licensed Marriage and Family Therapist living in Budapest, Hungary providing relationship counseling to English speakers. I began my studies in Psychology with an undergraduate degree from Oakland University in Auburn Hills, Michigan where my eyes were opened to the amazing complexities of a person. There I received an extensive understanding of human development and psychological theories , as well as developed a particular interest in both social psychology and philosophy.  I went on to study Marriage and Family Therapy at St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas where my education in human development deepened while I gained both theoretical development of systems theory and developed technical therapy skills. During this time, my love for the art of therapy, especially relational therapy, grew. After completing the higher degree, I moved to Washington, D.C. to take classes at the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family in order to increase the depth of my education in the theology and philosophy of marriage and family. Here I gained a comprehensive knowledge of Pope John Paul II’s Theology of the Body and related topics. This education helped round out and root my clinical training in the broader philosophical and theological sense of marriage and family. I then acquired a license to practice Marriage and Family Therapy in the State of Michigan when I acquired over 1000 hours of supervised experience, 500 of which with couples and families, from an AAMFT accredited supervisor. I practiced in Michigan offering individual, couple, and family treatment. Here I also helped established and participated in weekly group couples consultation meetings. This is where my experience with and love for therapist consultation grew. In June of 2021, my family and I relocated to Budapest, Hungary and my love for relational counseling has gone international! I am happy to be able to continue to offer tele-therapy services to clients in both Michigan and Virginia.
